Melania Trump dons coat at a chilly White House Easter Egg Roll

The president and first lady welcomed thousands of people to the White House Monday morning for the annual Easter Egg Roll, including son Donald Jr. and his wife, Vanessa, who filed for divorce two weeks ago after 12 years of marriage.

The first lady, 47, opted for a baby blue coat with black buttons, black tights and black heels for the 140th annual Easter Egg Roll on the White House’s South Lawn, wearing her hair in loose waves around her shoulders. President Trump chose a blue tie to match his wife’s look.

Their time together was brief — less than 30 minutes in total — but filled with small touches and thank-yous. In his remarks from the White House portico, President Trump attributed the day to his wife’s hard work.

“She worked so hard on this event, so I want to thank you,” he said.

The rest of the short but wide-ranging speech was head-scratching: Trump praised the “perfect weather, beautiful weather” (despite the frosty 40 degree temps); touched on military spending (“Just think of $700 billion, because that’s all going into our military this year.”); and praised the specialness of the White House, which he said his family was keeping in “tippy top shape.”
