PM Modi to inaugurate magenta line today sans Arvind Kejriwal: 10 facts

 

Tight security is in place for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit today to inaugurate Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line. PM Modi will inaugurate a segment of the Magenta Line on Monday, which will connect Botanical Garden station in Noida to south Delhi’s Kalkaji Mandir station.

HERE ARE THE 10 FACTS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MAGENTA LINE METRO LAUNCH:

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the newly-built Magenta Line is an example of modernising urban transport.

2. Magenta Line will make travel between Delhi and Noida faster and convenient.

3. PM Modi will also address the public after the inauguration at the Botanical Garden Metro station.

4. The elite Special Protection Group, which provides security to the prime minister, has taken control of the premises.

5. Provincial Armed Constabulary and paramilitary forces are part of the security at the venue. The area has been divided into 15 zones and an officer for each has been appointed

6. Aerial surveillance will be conducted with the help of helicopters, for which three helipads have been made at Botanical Garden.

7. The Botanical Garden-Kalkaji section has nine stations. Apart from Kalkaji Mandir, all other stations are elevated.

8. Travel time between the two will be reduced from 52 minutes (Botanical Garden to Mandi House via Blue Line and onwards to Kalkaji on Violet Line) to 19 minutes on the Magenta Line.

9. Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh termed the Delhi Chief Minister’s exclusion from the inauguration of Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line as ‘cheap mentality’.

10. The new line has platform screen doors (PSDs) on all nine stations that will become operational from today.
