The Most Budget-Friendly Destinations for 2018

There are plenty of exciting destinations worth exploring in 2018, including many where travelers can save big on accommodations if they time their trip just right.

Booking.com has done the number crunching already to reveal the top value cities in North America for each month of the New Year.

The online travel company reviewed average daily pricing data for three-, four- and five-star hotels and resorts in the most popular global cities from October 2016 to October 2017 to uncover that January is the ideal time to experience sunny San Diego.

According to Booking.com’s research, January in San Diego was 37 percent more affordable than the most expensive month of the year.

If you’ve already got plans this month, February warrants a trip to Las Vegas, which is 43 percent more affordable then, compared to the most expensive month of the year.

Travelers will find the greatest value in New Orleans in August when accommodations in the Big Easy are a whopping 45 percent cheaper. With the city celebrating its Tricentennial in 2018, there’ll be even more to see and do in New Orleans this summer.

Theme park-goers should plan a May getaway to Orlando, Florida, based on Booking.com’s data. Get ahead of the summer rush and save as much as 18 percent in the spring.

March and April are the best times to head north of the border into Canada. March in Montreal was 22 percent more affordable while April in Toronto was 27 percent cheaper compared to the most expensive months of the year, Booking.com found.

June belongs to Miami, where savings stretch to 39 percent. Another perennial tourism powerhouse, New York City is more than worthy of a visit in July. The Big Apple is 25 percent more affordable this time of year compared to its peak month for room rates.

Budget-conscious travelers should explore Washington, D.C. once the kids have gone back to school in September to save as much as 26 percent on their stay.

The fall belongs to the West, where sizable savings can be found in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The former is 14 percent cheaper in October than the most expensive month of the year while the latter is 31 percent more affordable in November by the same comparison.

Booking.com’s data suggests you’ll want to round out your year in Atlanta for 24 percent savings in the month of December.

If you’re able to time your flight right as well, you’ll be well-positioned to travel more for less in 2018.
