Collette Tours Celebrates its Centennial

When Jack Collette started Collette Tours in 1918, World War I had just ended, the Red Sox had won the World Series and porterhouse steak was a mere 54 cents per pound.

The first tour Collette ever offered meanwhile was on a jitney bus that took travelers from Boston to Florida. The three-week adventure cost just $68.50

Fast forward 100 years and Collette is still providing tours for travelers. Only now, the company is taking guests to all seven continents and has offices throughout the world.

Collette Tours is celebrating its centennial anniversary this year. The longest running tour operator in North America, Collette is marking the occasion in numerous ways including with its “1 Million Meals” campaign.

This global hunger initiative involved volunteering, global projects and three strategic, new partnerships through which Collette provided one million meals to those in need throughout the world.

To say thank you to its customers, Collette will also soon launch a “100 Days 100 Giveaways” contest during which it will award 100 prizes.

“In the last century, a lot has changed. But one thing has remained the same – our unwavering dedication to our travelers, partners, and agents. In our centennial year, we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks for allowing us to guide your guests to discover their reasons for travel,” said Dan Sullivan Jr., of Collette Tours.

We’ve spent the last 100 years bringing people all over the world and along the way we’ve learned that travel isn’t about the places we go – it’s about you and your reasons for going.

In 1962, the company Jack Collette founded was purchased by Dan Sullivan Sr. Today, Collette Tours is a third generation business owned by the Sullivan family, with offices in Rhode Island, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.

Its tours visit all seven continents and include such things as small group explorations, spiritual journeys, single hotel stays, river cruises and impact travel.

The company has more than 160 different tour options to choose from.
